AI Sandboxing Sessions
Run Sandbox sessions to introduce strategic foresight and ‘futures’ approaches to help organisations deal with uncertainty and change, including in the area of procuring and contracting AI capabilities.
Today’s decisions, actions, and inactions have positive and negative multiplier effects spanning generations. We use long-term governance, strategic foresight and anticipation, and inclusive participation, as tools and techniques to help public administrations promote intergenerational fairness through public procurement.
In the context of AI and intergenerational procurement, we have helped to shape:
- The United Nations’ specialised ICT agency, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Working Party on ‘Intergenerational Procurement for People-Centred Cities’, which is part of the ‘United for Smart Sustainable Cities’ (U4SSC) global initiative that’s supported by 20 UN entities;
- The Welsh Government’s Cyd ‘Procurement Reform Sandbox’;
- The empowering worker voice in public sector procurement of digital and AI systems in Wales toolkit, which was launched in February 2025;
- The principles for public participation in the procurement of AI, which were launched in October 2025 in collaboration with ParticipationAI and Connected by Data;
- The Open Contracting Partnership's buying AI guidance, which was launched in November 2025.
